April Fools 2026: Dick’s Drive-Thru on I-5

Did you know? Our two favorite days are Mariners’ Opening Day and April 1st. With both of those days landing so close to each other, it makes for a long year of waiting—but boy-oh-boy is it worth it!

Every April 1st, we like to share a joke with the Puget Sound region. Whether we’re starting a pickle ball league or announcing new operations on Washington State Ferries, we take our jokes very seriously. In 2026, we set up our first Dick’s Drive-Thru operations within the traffic mess that is the I-5 Ship Canal Bridge and temporarily updated our Food Truck page to drive the message home.

No pixels were harmed by AI in making this joke.

The First Dick’s Drive-Thru

The Dick’s Food Truck is now serving morning and evening commuters trapped in bumper-to-bumper traffic on the northbound I-5 Ship Canal Bridge.

Between the orange traffic drums, brake lights, and the existential dread of merging lanes that no longer exist, you’ve got time. A lot of it. So instead of gripping your steering wheel like it owes you money… grab a burger!

Location & Hours

Find us on Northbound I-5 on the Ship Canal Bridge, Monday–Friday for both the morning and evening commutes. We’re located somewhere between “I’m never leaving Seattle” and the 45th St. Exit, suspiciously close to the Wallingford Drive-In.

Get stuck in bumper-to-burger traffic

How It Works
(Hint: You’re already doing it)

  1. Sit in northbound I-5 traffic on the Ship Canal Bridge. Does it feel normal yet?

  2. Guard the piece of pavement in front of you like it’s your birthright—no mergers allowed. (Just kidding. Be kind. We’re all in this together.)

  3. From the left lane, approach the Dick’s Drive-Thru Food Truck at a safe speed—the same 0.7 MPH you’re already traveling.

  4. Place your order, pay, and receive hot food before your lane moves 3 feet.

Gotcha! April Fools

Please keep your hands inside the vehicle and your dreams realistic.

See you at the Drive-In! And learn how to bring the Food Truck to your next event.

Until Next Year…

Thank you for laughing with us at Dick’s Drive-In! Keep smiling, be kind out there, and enjoy the drive.
