Payments Accepted at Dick’s Drive-In

U.S. Penny Shortage

Recently, the US Treasury Department instructed the Mint to phase out penny production. This has led to a significant decrease in the penny supply.

What you need to know | Dick’s Drive-In is no longer able to acquire pennies. To manage the new standard of penny-free production, we are rounding to the nearest nickel for cash-paying customers only.

For example:

  • If your total is $10.21 it will become $10.20

  • If your total is $3.73 it will become $3.75

  • If your total is $12.97 it will become $12.95

  • If your total is $7.58 it will become $7.60

We understand this is a transition, and we appreciate your patience as we navigate it together.

  • On every order, we are required to add tax. The tax total is a percentage of your order. Often, the addition of tax adds pennies to the total.

  • You can always choose to round up your total to the nearest dollar and all the extra pennies will be donated to our Change for Charity fund. Funds in Change for Charity will be contributed directly to Dick’s Drive-In Charity Partners

  • There will be no change to your total amount. It will not be rounded up or down due to the penny shortage. If you wish, you may still ask to Round Up for Charity.

  • The Treasury Department is phasing out the production of pennies. As a result, fewer pennies are available from the bank.

  • You will still be able to see your total before you pay, just like always.
