Dick's Drive-Ins $18,000
Employee Scholarship Program

Overview:

Dick's Drive-In Restaurants is kicking off its annual employee college scholarship drive for graduating high school seniors. This year, Dick's Drive-Ins will give current 2008 high school graduates hired by June 30 the opportunity to receive up to $18,000 in college funds. Dick's offers the scholarship program year-round to all employees who have worked full-time at Dick's for at least six months. 2008 graduates have the opportunity this summer to qualify after working at Dick's for only TWO months.

Key Features:

  • When to apply: Any 2008 high school graduate who applies and is hired for a full-time summer job at any Dick's Drive-In by June 30 is eligible.

  • Qualifications: A 2008 high school graduate qualifies for Employee Scholarship program after only two-months of full-time employment at Dick's.

  • Student employee participants must continue to work part-time, at least 20 hours a week, at Dick's during the school year.

  • How the scholarship works: Participants who are enrolled and attend full-time receive $2,700 a year for each of their first two years of college, followed by an increased award of $6,300-a-year for the last two college years.

  • The first installation of the scholarship applies as soon as Fall 2008.

  • A Dick's scholarship form must be submitted at least two weeks before the first tuition payment is due.

  • Dick's cuts a check directly to the college or university of choice.

  • Where to apply: Students can apply at any Dick's Drive-In location between 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm, Monday through Thursday. For more information, contact Dick's main office, at (206) 634-0300

Benefits:

  • Making college affordable: The total of $18,000 affords nearly the full cost of two years of community college plus two years at a four-year college or university.

  • Other great benefits: Dick's Drive-Ins provide many other benefits to their part-time and full-time employees, including the best starting wage in the service industry, merit raises, employer-paid health insurance, paid vacations, paid time off for community service and 401K savings plans for employees over 21.

HOW TO APPLY

All a graduate has to do is work at Dick's full-time this summer to be eligible.

To qualify for the program, this year's high school graduates must:

A benefit program unprecedented in the fast food industry, Dick's college scholarship program also extends to all full-time and part-time employees who have worked at Dick's for at least six months.

Students can apply at any of the five Dick's locations in Seattle: on NE 45th in Wallingford, Holman Road, Lake City, lower Queen Anne and Capitol Hill. For more information, call (206) 206-634-0300
